Melissa Matson, MSN, RN, AGPCNP-BC, AOCNP is a nurse practitioner with the UNC Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Program. In that role, she leads the AYA inpatient/outpatient consult service, with a special interest in reproductive health (fertility preservation, menstrual suppression, contraception, and sexual health). Additionally, Melissa sees AYA survivors in the UNC Young Adult Survivorship Clinic. In 2021, Melissa founded a collaborative of advanced practitioners caring for AYAs across the US. She has also presented at local, national and international conferences on the unique aspects of providing cancer care for adolescents and young adults. Prior to joining the UNC AYA team in 2020, Melissa served as an adult leukemia NP in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Melissa completed her graduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with a focus on adult-gerontology primary care and specialization in oncology.
